In Iran also, many live events, such as sports<br \/>matches, concerts and other social gatherings were<br \/>cancelled. In the movie sector, many traditional film<br \/>studios had no idea how or when they would be able to<br \/>produce new movies.<br \/>While many businesses have been hit severely by<br \/>this outbreak, audiovisual media service providers<br \/>have generally continued successfully throughout the<br \/>pandemic.<br \/>Lockdown and quarantine have contributed to an<br \/>increased use of media as a source of entertainment.<br \/>After movie theatres and cinemas were closed, most<br \/>digital content companies saw a surge in demand as<br \/>more and more people stayed at home and signed up<br \/>to these platforms. Tens of millions of homebound<br \/>consumers joined these streaming services in search of<br \/>entertainment and to alleviate loneliness and boredom<br \/>while in isolation. Without cinemas, theatres, cafes,<br \/>libraries, concerts and other live events, Iran&rsquo;s 70<br \/>million internet users turned to video on demand (VOD)<br \/>services as a source of entertainment.
